GM teases the upcoming GMC Sierra Denali electric pickup truck with a short video clip and a couple of images. The company says that the Sierra Denali EV truck will be formally unveiled next year (in 2022). The company specifically calls out the premium Denali brand for this electrified pickup truck. It will be built on GM’s Ultium electric platform that also underpins the 2022 GMC Hummer EV truck and SUV.
This GMC news joins the upcoming news from Chevrolet. The Chevy Silverado E electric pickup truck will make its world debut at the 2022 CES event at the beginning of January. This is less than a month away. The Silverado E is expected to begin production in early 2023. Chevrolet says they will offer a more affordable commercial version of Silverado E as well as more premium consumer versions.
It appears that GMC aims to take the Sierra electric pickup a bit further up the luxury segment with the Denali model. How about the popular AT4 or AT4X off-road version of the electric truck? There is no information about this yet. Although, if you desire a capable off-road electric truck – GMC will happily sell you a Hummer EV.
