We have a fight on our hands.
Okay, it’s not really a fight, but we’re getting to the bottom of an important question in this latest TFLtruck video. For around $77,000, which is the better truck to buy: the Ford F-150 Raptor or the Ram TRX?
In this video, Roman and Andre go through the details that make each truck tick — from utility to suspension, interior features, power (like we could ignore that one), and how each truck is to drive and to live with. You can’t ignore the 702 rampaging, supercharged horsepower that the TRX brings to the table, but…the Ford F-150 Raptor also has some party tricks up its sleeve when it comes to utility.
Underneath, our 2020 Ford F-150 Raptor packs Fox 3.0 Live Valve shocks, while the 2021 Ram TRX rides on 2.6-inch Bilstein Black Hawk e2 adaptive shocks. (Andre says they’re 3.0 in the video, but they are 2.6″ — apologies for the error). At $77,000, the Ford F-150 Raptor also has all the interior bells and whistles you need, as well as a more efficient, twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine. On the other hand, the TRX has launch control — oh yes. That just makes the truck a pure monster in a drag race, although you do have to spec up the truck through the Level 1 and Level 2 equipment group options. Do that and add on all the technology and utility groups, and you’re looking at a truck closer to $90,000.
Smiles per gallon, as Andre puts the TRX, versus the original baja truck which Roman argues for: Which would you have? Check out the video below for more of our arguments on either side and let us know what you think.
