Choosing a modular truck bed rack for your vehicle is more complicated than it used to be. There are so many different options on the market these days, from entry-level to high-end and from simple to complex. Though there are many options to choose from, each bed rack does pretty much the same thing: let you carry long items above the cab.

Modular vs. Static

Unless your truck is dedicated to one task, having the ability to adapt your truck bed storage and organization is essential. That’s because loading up lumber, moving a motorcycle, and carrying camping equipment each demand unique rack layouts. You can’t move all of those things with a fixed or static bed rack without disassembling it. What’s the point of having a rack on your truck bed if you have to take it apart to use your truck like a truck?

Leitner Designs’ Active Cargo System (ACS) FORGED) bed rack, with its patented sliding rear load bar, lets you load a motorcycle or full-size fridge in the bed without disassembling or removing the rack. In about 30 seconds, you can slide the bar back and load up some lumber or a kayak, ensuring your truck is ready for work or play at a moment’s notice.

Secure & Lockable Storage vs. Loose Bins

Eventually, you’ll run out of space in the cab of your truck and you’ll need to carry valuable items in the bed. Certainly, you can load them in unsecured bins and roll the dice they don’t walk off.

If you’re not a betting man, willing to risk losing your valuables, you can invest in a bed rack for secure and lockable storage. Leitner Designs’ ACS FORGED bed rack has patented eye-level storage bins called GearPODS. Weather resistant with automotive-grade seals, GearPODS are available in three sizes and feature keyed latches as well as provision for padlocks, too, keeping your gear safe when you’re on the move.

Overwhelming Weight

When you’re strapping a load to your bed rack, weight can get away from you quickly. It only takes fourteen 2x4s to max out a traditional bed rack. And that’s if you stay on the highway. Go off road and the payload for a traditional bed rack drops by a third. If you’re moving heavy gear and you plan to go off road, you’ll want a bed rack rated to carry more than you plan to haul.

The ACS FORGED weighs just 85 pounds, thanks to its high-strength aluminum construction. Despite its relatively light weight, it boasts the highest load capacity in the industry: 400-pound off-road dynamic weight capacity, 800-pound on-road dynamic weight capacity, and 1,400-pound parked weight capacity.

Ready for Any Truck, Any Adventure

If you want to run a tonneau cover on your truck, Leitner Designs has you covered. Active Cargo System FORGED is available for tonneau covers, too. That means you can have the weather-resistant protection of a tonneau plus a modular bed rack.

Don’t forget that you bought a no-compromises truck capable of easily accomplishing any job. Your bed rack should be the same; it should be able to safely and securely carry all your gear without causing any extra work or headaches.
