What happens when three very powerful off-road trucks meet for a drag race? In this case, it’s the Ford Raptor, the Ram TRX, and the Chevy Silverado Jackal by Paxpower. The Ford is powered by a twin-turbo V6, the Ram TRX is packing a supercharged V8, and the Jackal is hiding a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 (very similar to the TRX).

Let’s put them all on our test track at IMI Motorsports to see how quick they really are. This straight-away distance is nearly 1/8-mile.

The 2020 Ford Raptor is all stock with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 with 450 hp and 510 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. This Raptor has a curb weight of 6,000 lbs, and it is rolling on 35-inch BFGoodrich KO2 all-terrain tires. This truck is maxed out on options at a sticker price of $77,000.

The 2021 Ram TRX is also all stock with a 6.2-liter Hellcat V8 with 702 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque. This monster of an engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. The truck weighs a massive 6,500 lbs, and it is using wide 35-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory all-terrain tires. This truck is equipped with a TR1 package (more of a base to mid-grade truck) with a sticker price of $77,000.

Finally, the Chevy Silverado 1500 Jackal is an aftermarket truck that PaxPower offers for sale. This specific truck is a top-of-the-line Stage 3 package with a supercharger. Stage 3 means it has a wide-body kit (about 7 inches wider than a standard Chevy Silverado 1500). It has a long-travel suspension by BajaKits and Deaver with adjustable King 3.0 shocks. It has unique ADD bumpers, skid plates, and additional lights. The engine is a 6.2-liter GM V8 that is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. It’s breathing through a GM performance exhaust system. This Stage 3 package includes these 37-inch all-terrain tires.

This Stage 3 package adds about $35,000 to a price of a donor Silverado 1500 crew cab short bed 4×4 truck. The Whipple supercharger and unique tuning raise the power to 650 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque according to PaxPower. The supercharger kit costs $15,000. We weighed this truck at 5,860 lbs of curb weight with a full tank of fuel. The Silverado 1500 LTZ with all this Jackal equipment lists at around $100,000.

Spoiler alert: the first drag race is between the Jackal and the Raptor. When using 4-wheel-drive, the Jackal takes the win. In two-wheel-drive, the truck has a bit too much wheel spin. Next, the Jackal goes up against the TRX. Both trucks launch with similar authority, but the TRX soon gains the lead and wins the race in the end.
