Video: The Touching Story of an Old Truck ‘Gun Smoke’ That Raised $13,111 for a Children’s Home

The story of this old farm truck, 1989 Ford F-350 4×4 Diesel that we call ‘Gun Smoke’, has touched all of us. It is the most rewarding project that TFLtruck has ever been involved with. The idea was to fix up an old truck and auction it off for charity – the Mountain States Children’s Home.

The truck originally came from our friend, David Morrow. David originally purchased the truck in late 2019 because it came with a truck camper. He kept the camper and donated the truck to us at TFLtruck. Over the next 8-9 months, we worked together with David to bring the truck to its original glory and beyond. David was a huge part of the build by donating a lot of his time, expertise, and materials.

Kase and Tommy invested a huge amount of time and video production into the project as well. Toyo tires donated a set of new Open Country AT3 all-terrain tires. NoCo LINE-X helped us with the spray-in bed liner. After a new coat of paint and many other parts, the truck turned into what you see here.

We put the truck on auction, but we never expected to raise over $13,000! Most of us optimistically thought that $7,500 or $8,500 was possible. Huge thanks to Justin and his family for their generosity.

It was extra special to pass the check over to the children’s home and meet many of the teachers, care takers, and the kids and students!

Take a look at the video below to see an overview of the entire story from the very beginning to the end. Of course, the story is not over. The truck is moving over to Idaho to live on Justin’s farm.
