The 2020 Nissan Frontier may look like the old truck, but by now you know there’s an all-new heart under that familiar hood. In fact, it’s a new 3.8-liter direct-injected V6 engine making 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque. Not only that, but Nissan also fitted a 9-speed automatic transmission, so it’s essentially a brand new truck underneath. In time we’ll get the completely redesigned 2021 Frontier, but Nissan just announced pricing for this in-between 2020 model.

At $27,885 (including Nissan’s $1,095 destination charge), the 2020 Nissan Frontier is much more expensive than the outgoing model, due to the company dropping the old four-cylinder option. However, it’s not drastically more expensive than the old 4.0-liter V6, coming in at just under $2,000 more on average. That starting price is for a Frontier S King Cab 4×2, with all other models increasing in price from there.

Here’s a complete breakdown on pricing below.

More upgrades for the 2020 Nissan Frontier

Apart from the powertrain, Nissan also included a few quality-of-life improvements for the 2020 Frontier. Push button start, tilt steering, power door locks, power windows and a leather shift knob are now standard across the lineup. Granted, power door locks and power windows seem quaint to mention as “standard” equipment, but this is the Frontier we’re talking about. Until the new truck comes along, we’re talking about a model that’s 15 years old at this point.

The 2021 Nissan Frontier SV also gets two no-cost upgrade packages. The Midnight Edition offers blacked out exterior trim and 18-inch gloss black alloy wheels. A Special Edition package gives you a trip computer, a Satin Chrome grille, a body-color rear bumper and 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels.

The 2020 Nissan Frontier will go on sale in July, and hopefully the 2021 model will follow a few months thereafter. Check out more on the updated 2020 Frontier below:
