A recent report from Automotive News suggests that a Ford mini truck is indeed coming to production. This is according to a source familiar with the Ford dealership meeting that occurred last month.
This is unconfirmed by Ford.
The insider source reports that the mini truck, which is based on a Euro-spec Ford Focus, will be built at the Hermosillo plant in Mexico. Ford has big plans for this compact pickup truck. They are aiming for a $20,000 starting price (about $4,500 under the starting price of a Ford Ranger). The report says that the company hopes to sell around 100,000 trucks per year once production is in full swing.
The truck could have either a 1.5-liter and/or a 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbocharged gas engine lineup. The mini truck could carry either a Ford Courier or a Ford Ranchero name. It’s not clear yet what the production name will be.
The truck is said to reach the market in 2021 as a 2022 model. Let us know what you think about this in the comments section below. We will stay on top of this news and bring it to you ASAP.
