A $60 Fix Transformed The Front Of Our 1989 Ford F-350 And It Can Do The Same For You Too

A little elbow grease goes a long way

A few bucks and a little bit of labor makes a ton of difference with our project Gunsmoke Ford F-350!

More Gunsmoke!

We acquired our TFLtruck project vehicle, “Gunsmoke” as a rough but awesome vehicle that we will eventually auction off for charity. This is a 1989 Ford F-350 diesel. It has a manual transmission, solid axles all-around and…well, little else. But how much more do you want from a rugged, old truck really? We are in the process of making it safer to drive and now, a few additional updates are underway.

Once we’re finished building, testing and filming this project, we are going to auction it off and send all of the proceeds to Mountain States Children’s Home in Longmont, Colorado.

Our dilemma:

Recently, we purchased a 1990 Ford F-150 for $950 as a parts donor vehicle. Unlike the project Gunsmoke, it has pretty good body parts and a legendary 300 I6 gas engine. Yep, it runs and it could make for a good project on its own.

And that’s where you guys chimed in.

After airing our video showing Tommy and Case pickup up the parts truck, many of you suggested that we restore it too. While it was never a consideration before, after your suggestions – all options are on the table (so to speak).

Part of safe driving is being able to see properly – right?

In time, we’ll figure out what we can do. In the meantime, we still need to make progress on Gunsmoke.

Our intern Case takes you through our easy-to-do (and cheap) quick fix that makes a huge difference. Case updated our headlights with a set of Sylvania XtraVision bulbs. We also used a 3M headlight restoration kit to shine up those nasty headlights and the results are impressive!
