2020 GM half-ton trucks finally get a heavy duty towing mirror, according to these images at a dealership. The new Chevy Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 trucks have been on sale for many months, and GM said that the towing mirrors will be available on these trucks “at a later date” as an option. It appears that day is finally here for those who tow big and wide trailers.

The 2020 model year trucks are starting to arrive at dealers. TFLtruck viewer, Jason, noticed this new Sierra 1500 AT4 with towing mirrors sitting on a dealership lot.

These vertical orientation power-folding and power-extending towing mirrors made their debut on the 2020 GM heavy duty trucks. There are also manual folding and extending versions of this mirror. (By the way, the 2020 HD trucks are also beginning to arrive at local dealers now.)

GM increased the maximum towing rating on their half-ton trucks for the 2020 year up to a class-leading 13,400 lbs for a properly configured and equipped 1500 trucks with a 6.2-liter gas V8. The AT4 you see here also has a 6.2-liter V8, but the off-road suspension decreases this truck’s towing capacity.

When towing wide camping trailers, and extendable vertical towing mirror is a great help and a piece of safety equipment that lets the drive see down the side of the trailer and have clear view near the trailer tires and the roof line.
