Here is everything new with the refreshed 2020 Ford F-250, F-350, and F-450 Super Duty trucks. While the exterior style remains largely the same, the power trains and suspensions are either all-new or heavily revised. There is an all-new 7.3L gasoline V8 engine, and updated 3rd generation 6.7L turbo-diesel V8, and an all-new 10-speed heavy duty automatic transmission. Let’s dive into all the 2020 Super Duty details.

2020 Ford F-250

The 2020 trucks get new grilles, bumpers, and light designs. There are two style for the headlights, three styles for the tail-lights, and new tailgate stampings to differentiate the new truck from the 2019 models.

The big differences are under the hood. First, the existing 6.2L V8 continues with a 6-speed automatic transmission for the base trucks. You can opt for the new 10-speed automatic transmission for the 6.2L V8, the all-new 7.3L V8, and the updated 3rd-generation 6.7L Power Stroke turbo-diesel V8. This is a total of four powertrain combinations.

7.3L Gas V8

The all-new 7.3L gas V8 is a “big block” push-rod engine that is designed for low-end power and efficiency according to Ford. Unfortunately, Ford has not yet specified the power numbers for any of the latest engine options in the 2020 truck. This engine will only be mated to the 10-speed automatic transmission in Super Duty pickup trucks.

10-Speed Automatic

The new heavy duty 10-speed automatic transmission uses the same design philosophy as the transmission that is currently available in the F-150 trucks, but it is physically larger and employs latest technologies to withstand the big horsepower and torque numbers from the new Super Duty engines. The transmission also has selectable drive modes: normal, tow/haul, eco, slippery, and deep sand/snow.

6.7L Diesel V8

Ford redesigned the Power Stroke V8 turbo-diesel with an updated turbocharger and strengthened internal components for increased power. Ford does not say how much the new engine will produce, but they says it will be more than the current engine. Expect a possible rating of over 450 horsepower and 935 lb-ft of torque. The diesel is also mated to a 10-speed automatic.

Pro Traile Backup Assist (works with gooseneck trailers)

Ford has not announced the payload or towing numbers for the 2020 Super Duty trucks. They just said that it will be the more than the current truck in terms of all ratings (payload, conventional towing, and gooseneck/5th wheel towing).

2020 Super Duty Limited

While the interiors remain largely the same, the 2020 Super Duty Limited trim gets a new luxurious interior that uses the same recipe and many of the same materials as the new 2019 Ford F-150 Limited. Wireless charging and USB-C ports are also available.

Pricing is not yet announced. The new trucks will go on sale in late 2019, according to Ford.
