Should You Buy a New 5.0L Ford F-150? Dude I Love (or Hate) My New Ride

Another willing new-truck owner let us pick his brain this week for dude, I love (or hate) my ride, and this episode is all about the F-150.

We spoke with Tom, an F-150 owner who opted for the 5.0-liter Coyote V8 under the hood of his truck. In every episode of dude I love my ride, we try and go over every aspect of the buying experience with a new vehicle owner, to help prospective owners know what to expect from the buying process.

The F-150 can be a particularly tough truck to make decisions on thanks to the myriad trim and powertrain options. Under the hood you have a naturally aspirated V6 at the bottom end, two EcoBoost turbocharged engines, the larger of which can be had with two different outputs, the 5.0-liter V8 and a 3.0-liter diesel.

This particular buyer went for the 5.0-liter for the reliability along with the value, as you can save a bit of money over the big 3.5-liter EcoBoost and sacrifice next to no fuel economy.

Tom also goes over what he thinks about all the interior technology features on his new F-150, praising Sync 3 and the Ford Pass connectivity features.

And probably most importantly, Tom tells us what he paid for the truck, the most important aspect of any sale, and financing options did end up selling him on this F-150. But you’ll have to watch the video above to find out what he paid!
