Hot on the heels of 5thGenRams.com confirming the new Ram Heavy Duty will emerge in 2019, we caught it out in the wild. More specifically, Ram’s new HD 3500 Mega Cab dually prototype was at the Ike Gauntlet in Colorado!
Notably, we can spot remnants of the current generation Ram HD’s crosshair grille, although this model is still under heavy camouflage.

It also isn’t immediately clear what transmission the 2019 Ram HD trucks will have. Will it be a revision of the current six-speed AISIN automatic, or will Ram adapt an 8-speed to the new HD range? As the powertrain options are unclear, so too are the towing and payload capabilities. While we don’t have a grasp on official figures, we’d expect Ram to gun for the Ford Super Duty’s 34,000-pound towing capacity and 7,620-pound maximum payload.
According to the recent production timeline, Ram will reveal the 2019 Ram HD lineup in January at the Detroit Auto Show. From there, the first deliveries will take place in March 2019, followed by volume sales in June. Stay tuned to TFLtruck.com for more updates!
