In the growing midsize truck segment the Toyota Tacoma – currently in its third generation – continues to top the sales chart. While year-over-year May sales of the truck are down, year-to-date sales are up. The Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon continue to do well but the big surprise is the Nissan Frontier. The oldest competitor continues to lure a significant number of customers. May sales are up a whopping 46% over last year while year-to-date sales are up 21.3%.
The Honda Ridgeline should go on sale soon. It will be interesting to see how the new truck (use quotation marks if you must) will impact the more established players in the segment. You can watch video below of the Ridgeline versus the Tacoma in an off-road review below.

In the full-size truck segment the Ford F-Series continues to lead the pack, both in number of vehicles sold and in year-over-year sales growth for the month. If you’re a fan of sales reports this should come as no surprise to you. The Silverado grabbed the second spot. Combined with the GMC Sierra, 62,677 customers took home a full-size GM truck next month… still roughly 5,000 fewer than those who chose to adopt a Ford.
