Is this used 3rd-generation Toyota Tacoma the best used midsize pickup truck you can buy? I take this 2020 Tacoma 4×4 for a test drive to see if that’s true. Let’s dig in!

This video series is made possible by our friends at AutoTempest.com – it’s the one-stop shop to find that special truck or car that you’ve been looking for.

This particular 2020 Tacoma double-cab has a 3.5L V6 and a 6-speed automatic transmission. It’s painted in a fun Voodoo Blue exterior color. It has just over 105,000 miles on the odometer.

This 2020 Tacoma looks and drives like a brand new one. This one happens to be a one-owner truck that lived all of its life in the Denver area. There is a little bit of surface rust on the hitch receiver, but the rest of the chassis and body are great. The composite bed has some scratches, so it looks like it’s been used to haul some stuff.

It doesn’t appear like it was used off-road road, and it’s unlikely it towed anything big either.

After looking at all of the recalls and many of the owner complaints, nothing significant pops up. Yes, this truck was part of a fuel pump recall, but it was taken care of long ago. This truck feels like new driving on dirt, and at highway speeds.

The two reasons that make a 3rd-generation Tacoma one of the best used midsize pickup trucks are: their durability and crazy good resale value. This truck had a window sticker of $38,000 in 2020. The dealer currently wants about $28,000 for it.
