Take a look! It appears that a refreshed 2025 Nissan Frontier Pro-4X off-road pickup truck is coming into better view. We first saw a very similar prototype a few months ago thanks to our viewer Edwin Z. Now, these images come to us from Canada thanks to Alberta ADV.
The new Nissan Frontier arrived on the scene as a 2022 model. It’s now nearly three years later so a refresh may be in order. What will Nissan change? The current Frontier is already a very solid entry into the midsize truck segment, but we always wished the Pro-4X off-road model had a little more ground clearance. The tough looking wheels and tires under this prototype suggest this may be the Pro-4X model and the ground clearance looks ample.
Nissan is unlikely to change payload or towing numbers on this truck. Also, the 3.8L gasoline V6 will likely remain unchanged as well. It’s a very good engine that produces 310 horsepower that is at the top of the class, at least until the Toyota Tacoma Hybrid arrives on the scene this spring with 326 electrically-enhanced horsepower.
Nissan may further update the interior design and available technologies. The front and rear of the truck are camouflaged, so small exterior design changes are also expected. We do not know when we will officially see the updated Nissan Frontier. At this time, we assume it will be a 2025 model (but it also may be a later model year).
Thank you and take a look at how tough the current Nissan Frontier really is. We put it on the Ike GauntletTM – the world’s toughest towing test.
