The all-new 2024 Mitsubishi Triton midsize pickup truck is officially here. It makes its world debut in Thailand. It grows in size in nearly every dimension. It rides on a longer wheelbase than before. It’s overall wider and longer. It has a larger bed, and it’s powered by three versions of the new 2.4-liter turbo-diesel I4 engine (for the Australian market).

The top-of-the-line turbo-diesel engine is rated at 150 kW and 470 NM of torque. It translates to 201 horsepower and 346 lb-ft of torque. Many of Triton’s competitors have a V6 turbo-diesel engine option in their respective markets. The new Triton has new styling inside and out. It does appear to have rear drum brakes, instead of disk brakes.
Here is a look at two trim levels of the new Triton. The orange pickup truck is labeled as the “Athlete”. It appears to be the most off-road-worthy version of the truck, at least for now.
Here is a look at the new Triton interior. It appears to be familiar to the Mitsubishi Outlander that we have on sale in the United States.
I believe we captured the new Mitsubishi Triton prototype trucks testing in the Colorado Rocky Mountains with and without trailers.
We do not know if the new Triton will ever come to the United States. Mitsubishi is working with Nissan on some of this pickup truck tech. Will Ram jump on this and use this chassis for the all-new Ram Dakota? We do not know this either. We will have to wait and see.
Here is our friend – Paul from CarExpert.au – with a detailed look at the new Triton.
