Several Mitsubishi Triton prototypes were captured driving around in Colorado. Are these Mitsubishi prototypes or is there something else going on here? We previously reported that Ram and Mitsubishi may be working together on a U.S. version of the Triton/L200 pickup truck. We do not have any further official information to support this, but many more prototypes are being tested in the U.S.A, and they are still heavily camouflaged.
The prototype you see here has an exhaust pipe coming out on its passenger side. It appears to have an attachment for emissions equipment. This pickup appears to have a solid rear axle and independent front suspension. This is all typical fair for a midsize pickup in the U.S.
This may simply be an international pickup truck prototype that is undergoing high-altitude testing in Colorado. We will have to wait and see how this story develops.
Here is a video of another similar prototype towing a trailer on the Ike GauntletTM – the world’s toughest towing test.
