Could this be the ultimate Toyota Tacoma that can go just about anywhere? I take a close look at this Tactical Application Vehicles’ (TAV) build at the Overland Expo. This Tacoma started life as a fairly basic Tacoma Sport 4×4.

This is a holistic “stage 3” build that shows the top end of what’s possible with a previous generation Tacoma. It now sits on a very special suspension system that uses some components from Total Chaos Fabrication and King Shocks. The 37-inch all-terrain tires look proper on this truck that is now about 6-inches wider than a standard Tacoma.

Under the hood is a supercharged 4.0L V6 that is using a familiar Magnuson blower. There is a dual-battery system for the truck and a separate air compressor for the locking differentials. In the back is a custom flatbed by Bowen Customs out of Colorado. The rear canopy and tent have their own battery and air compressor.

In the end, this is a very premium build that may cost upwards of $170,000 including the donor truck. According to TAV, this truck is a fine daily driver and they recently took it on a 600-mile run in the Baja desert. Check out all of the details in the video below.
