Will this new ceramic coating by Avalon King protect my new 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 truck on a road trip to Moab, Utah, and beyond? We find out. TFLtruck recently purchased this Silverado for our long-term truck fleet. It’s a big investment, and we decided to protect it with Armor Shield IX nano-ceramic coating.

As always, we wanted to be the first to take the new Silverado ZR2 truck to Moab, Utah for a proper off-road shakedown and review. Moab is approximately 350 miles away from our HQ in Boulder, Colorado. This trip involves going over the Continental Divide and several mountain passes. It would be great to protect the paint and make it easier to clean the windshield and the rest of the truck.

We decided to coat the driver’s side of the truck and leave the passenger side as-is for comparison. This is a do-it-yourself kit that anybody can use. You don’t need special training to apply the coating. There are several steps that include washing your truck (or any vehicle), applying the prep spray, and applying the coating. You need to avoid applying the coating in direct sunlight, and it should be done in a well-ventilated area.

In the end, it was very easy to wash the bugs off the windshield and the front of the truck. I felt confident that the paint has an extra layer of protection when taking on challenging off-road obstacles in Moab and at our Tumbleweed Ranch. Finally, the coating makes it super easy to wash the mud off your truck.
