What's hiding under all the camo?

Check out these images of what appears to be the upcoming 2023 Chevy Colorado and 2023 GMC Canyon prototype pickup trucks. Huge thanks to @bigdave… on Instagram for sending these to us. Why do we think these are the new Colorado and Canyon trucks? They are heavily camouflaged, the side mirrors are mounted inside the a-pillar, and they look a little smaller than the Silverado and Sierra prototypes that are driving in a convoy with them.

Several of these prototypes have different wheel styles and sizes. Some of the smaller blacked-out wheels may belong to the Colorado prototypes, the larger polished wheels may belong to the GMC Canyon prototypes (perhaps even a Canyon AT4 prototype).

The rumor has it that GM will simplify the Colorado and Canyon powertrain offering to just one engine. It will most likely be the 2.7-liter turbocharged I4 that may be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. GM just announced that they upgraded the 2.7-liter Turbo to 310 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque. If the smaller trucks are using the same power rating – it would make them very quick midsize trucks and the most amount of available torque (outside of the diesel-powered Jeep Gladiator).
