Hyundai announces the final piece of the puzzle to the all-new 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz compact pickup (aks. sport adventure vehicle). The new Santa Cruz base model with the front-wheel-drive will start at $23,990 before destination charges. The destination charge is a somewhat reasonable $1,185 for a total starting price of $25,175. Here is how the rest of the Santa Cruz models are priced. Also, here is how the pricing compares to the new 2022 Ford Maverick.

The new 2022 Santa Cruz comes with two engine options, the standard 2.5-liter I4 with an 8-speed automatic transmission, and a turbocharged 2.5-liter I4 with an 8-speed DCT (dual-clutch automated transmission). As you can see the Santa Cruz AWD starts at $25,490 ($26,675 with destination).

The luxurious 2022 Hyundai Santa Cruz Limited AWD with the turbocharged engine will start at $39,720 ($40,905 with destination).

2022 Ford Maverick – Pricing

The upcoming 2022 Ford Maverick Hybrid front-wheel-drive starts at $19,995 before destination and $22,490 after the $1,495 destination charges. The Maverick and the Santa Cruz will be competing directly against each other. The Maverick does have a $2,685 price advantage for a base model. The Maverick also offers better fuel economy with the base Hybrid. However, Santa Cruz’s turbocharged engine has more power and can tow a heavier trailer than the Maverick.

The 2022 Ford Maverick Lariat AWD First Edition starts at $36,310 including destination charges. You can add a few more options to the First Edition model to push the price over the $37K mark.
