The new 2021 Ford F-150 Police Responder truck is here. It packs a punch with a higher top speed, 4×4 capability, and high payload and towing ratings. It also has several unique features not available on a civilian F-150. This is a pursuit-rated vehicle that complies with all police department requirements. Here are all the specs.

It’s based on a new 2021 F-150 crew cab 4×4 with a short bed and a FX4 package. Under the hood is a standard 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 engine with 400 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. This is the only powertrain available for the police truck. There is no option to get a V8 or the new hybrid power plant.

The top speed is raised thanks to new Goodyear Wrangler Enforcer tires. Ford says these tires offer the on-road handling performance required of a police vehicle and off-road traction when needed. Overall, the 2021 F-150 Police Responder is rated at a top speed of 120 MPH. This may not sound like a lot if you are used to looking at cars. However, this top speed is higher than that of the new 2021 Ram TRX – which is 118 MPH.

The new police truck is equipped a torque-on-demand low-range transfer case. It allows the driver to enable the 4-Auto mode, where the system is engaged in two-wheel-drive until additional traction is needed. It automatically sends power to the front wheels. This transfer case is available on civilian F-150 truck such as higher trim levels and the Raptor.

Unique Police Responder features include the ability to leave the engine running, take out the key, and leave the truck. This allows the truck to continue to power the lights, sirens, and other equipment while the officer is not inside. This mode is enabled via a hard button on the dashboard. The Police Responder also allows the driver to temporarily disable the Forward Collision Warning and Automatic Emergency Braking. If you are in a middle of a chase, the driver will require additional control.

The F-150 Police Responder is rated at a maximum 2,030 lbs of payload rating and 11,200 lbs of maximum towing capacity when properly equipped. You can also get the Responder truck configured at a maximum of 7,000 lbs of towing.
