2021 Ram TRX Launch Edition VIN 001 Brings In $410,000 At Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction: News

The GMC Hummer EV crosses the auction block Saturday

Over $400,000 goes to United Way for Southeastern Michigan.

Ram threw the gauntlet down with the new TRX, thanks in no small part to packing in a massive, 702 horsepower 6.2-liter supercharged V8. Beyond the “standard” mega-truck, though, is the special “Launch Edition” model. Topping out the range, Ram built — you guessed it — just 702 examples, and the very first one just hit the auction block at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Friday night.

Leading up to the actual event, Barrett-Jackson and Stellantis both announced 100% of the hammer price would go to charity. Specifically, the proceeds would go to United Way for Southeastern Michigan, a charitable organization that helps struggling families with basic needs among the communities in and around Detroit. At the time the no reserve auction ended, the first TRX fetched $410,000 for that charity. Other headline auctions of the night included the first Mustang Mach 1, which brought $500,000 to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). GM’s first 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Convertible also brought in another $400,000 to United Way for Southeastern Michigan.

Getting back to the TRX, this VIN 001 Launch Edition is fully loaded with every option Ram can pack into the truck. That includes the supercharged V8 chucking out 650 lb-ft of torque, as well as the luxurious TRX Level 2 package beyond that. The Launch Edition option adds carbon fiber interior trim appointments, a panoramic sunroof, head-up display, beadlock-capable wheels, a 19-speaker Harman/Kardon audio system, and the TRX exterior graphics. Ram also includes a bespoke First Edition plaque on the center console, shown below.

More big money auctions Saturday

Now, the Ram TRX Launch Edition carries an MSRP floating around $100,000. This truck went for four times that, as first VINs tend to bring big bucks. While you can’t order the limited-run truck, you can package its contents in your own TRX for just north of $94,000.

While the first Ram TRX Launch Edition has sold, one huge auction we’re keeping an eye on Saturday is the first VIN GMC Hummer EV. That will likely bring in more than half a million dollars.
