While we wait for the next generation of the Nissan Navara and Nissan Frontier midsize trucks, Nissan introduces its most off-road worthy of the Navara for Australian and New Zealand markets. It’s called the Navara N-TREK Warrior. It’s a collaboration between Nissan and an engineering firm to give a Navara 4×4 more off-road capability. This truck is meant to go head-to-head against the Ford Ranger Raptor and the Toyota Hilux Mako.
2021 Nissan Navara Warrior
What is this Navara all about? It gets a 40mm (1.6-inch) suspension lift for a total ground clearance of 10.55 inches, 32.2-inch Cooper all-terrain LT off-road tires, wheel flares, skid plates, LED light bar, and more. The suspension and the shocks have also been changed to withstand more off-road abuse.
The N-TREK power comes from a 2.3-liter twin-turbo diesel engine that is rated at 187 horsepower. While the Warrior only comes in a crew cab 4×4 configuration, you still have a choice of two transmissions. They are a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed automatic unit. Just as with all competitive utes (aka. trucks), the N-TREK Warrior towing capacity remains at 3,500 lbs (or 7,716 lbs).
The aggressive front bumper allows an improved approach angle. The truck uses a stainless steel skid plate upfront. There are color accents, unique wheels, side steps, a graphics package, and unique interior appointments. All of this comes at a price. In New Zealand, the most off-road capable Navara starts at $76,990 (this translates to about U.S. $51,658 at the current exchange rate).
The N-TREK Warrior pricing is much higher than other Navara trucks, but it is less than the competitors from Ford and Toyota. The Hilux Mako retaila at around $79,900 in New Zealand. The Ford Ranger Raptor has a list price of $84,990 in New Zealand.
