The new 2021 Ram TRX is getting very close to its official debut and production release! We spy several TRX prototypes in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. FCA publishes a Q2 2020 financial results document that specifies release timing for the Ram TRX, and several Jeep SUVs (2022 Grand Cherokee, Wagoneer, Grand Wagoneer, and another mysterious three-row SUV). More on this a little later.
Take a loot at the ‘Prototype Hunting’ video below. There are at least three pickup truck prototypes in this group. The black truck appears to be an early prototype that does not have the latest body work – hence it is not camouflaged. There appear to be a couple of other Hellcat V8-powered beasts as well. There is a Dodge Charger and a Dodge Durango Hellcat models in the flesh.
The 2021 Durango Hellcat was recently unveiled. It packs a 6.2-liter supercharged V8 with 710 horsepower and all-wheel-drive. Will the TRX have the same engine option and power rating? We will have to wait a little longer to get the official specs.
Here are the snapshots from the official FCA document. This page lists the “all-new Ram TRX pickup truck” Start Of Production (SOP) in Q4. This is presumably Q4 2020.
This following snapshot lists a “3-row full-size SUV” to have a start of production in Q1 2021. This one is followed by the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer in Q2 2021. Finally, the 2022 Grand Cherokee is scheduled to come in Q3 2021 (in about a year from now).
What is this mysterious 3-row full-size SUV? It’s difficult to say at this time. We expect the Grand Wagoneer to be a large full-size three-row SUV. It is listed to be built at the Warren Truck Plant in Michigan (where the Ram 1500 Classic is currently being built). The Warren plant is being retooled right now to produce the big Jeep SUVs.
