Yes, we have a new project truck! This is a 1989 Ford F-350 4×4 with a 7.3-liter IDI diesel V8 (non-turbo). This truck is donated by David Morrow and family with all final sales proceeds to benefit Mountain States Children’s Home.
We call this new project truck – Rollin’ Cool! We want to make this truck reliable, safe, and really off-road capable. We would like to have fun with this truck, do a video series, and then auction it off for charity.
7.3-Liter IDI Diesel V8
This engine is a result of Ford’s partnership with International Navistar. This engine was initially rated at around 185 hp and 338 lb-ft of torque. It’s backed up by a 5-speed manual transmission.
The axles are dana-60s, the differential gearing is 4.10:1, the wheelbase is not too long. It has a low-range 4×4 transfer case. Those are all the good things. The not so good are the brakes, the simple lift, and old wheels/tires.
Stay tuned as we do much more with the Rollin’ Cool truck!
Take a look at all the details in the video below.
