Toyota Tacoma Sales Grow, Frontier Declines, and Gladiator Moves Some Metal in April (Sales Report)

July 2018 midsize truck sales
April 2019 sales report – Toyota Tacoma

While Toyota Tacoma is still handily leading the midsize truck sales charts in the United States in April 2019, it’s double-digit growth calms down a bit. The Tacoma still improved in sales, but the April improvement was 8.3%. Is Tacoma starting to feel the pressure from the new trucks in the segment: Ford Ranger and Jeep Gladiator?

The next Ford and General Motors sales reports will come in early July, so we cannot compare them here directly.

Jeep lists 314 trucks sold in April 2019 (going to dealerships), but the Jeep marketing team tells TFLtruck that at least one new Jeep Gladiator was delivered to a customer in April. It was a silver Gladiator Rubicon.

The ups and downs of the Nissan Frontier sales continue. In April, the Frontier sales decreased by -16.2%. The next generation Frontier is still about a year away, and we are watching this space very carefully for more.

Honda Ridgeline has a positive month, as April sales improved by 7.9%.
