Is a 2019 Ram 1500 Limited with the Off-Road package basically the same thing as a 2019 Ram Rebel with a nicer interior? We recently got this questions at ask@tfltruck.com from Dimitri L.
I’ve been looking into either the new Ram Rebel or a Limited with the off-road package. Question, other than the front skid plate and maybe some approach angle, does the Rebel have any advantage off-road over the Limited? Is the suspension and its geometry otherwise the same? Is a Limited with the off-road package basically a Rebel with upgraded interior?
This question has come up multiple times recently, so we wanted to address it here. First, we need to establish what the new Ram 1500 Off-Road package consists of, and then look at some differences and similarities.
What Ram calls the “Off-Road Group” package retails for $795 and includes the following:
- one inch lift
- specially tuned shocks
- rear e-locker
- several skid plates
- hill descent control
- Falken Wildpeak A/T all terrain tires
The Off-Road package can be added to any 2019 Ram 1500 trim level, not just the most luxurious Limited grade.
No doubt, the Rebel has a very unique exterior and interior styling when compared with the Limited and other trim levels. The Rebel has many of the same hardware components:
- steel coil spring suspension option with a lift over the standard Ram 1500
- rear e-locker
- skid plates underneath
However, the Rebel offers some unique hardware:
- front bumper with a steel skid plate up front
- branded Bilstein off-road shocks
- unique Rebel rims that are wrapped in Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac tires.
These additions make the Rebel just a bit more off-road focused.
Although, the Limited and the Laramie versions of the new Ram offer something that Rebel currently does not. Which is the 360-degree surround view camera. Why? Currently, the surround view camera is an option that is linked with Ram’s new 12-inch infotainment system (not the 8-inch system that is available in Rebel). We do not know when or if this will change.
Which interior is nicer? Is the Limited’s or is the Rebel’s? Below is a look at both of them – you be the judge.
