Load Max gooseneck trailer

The 2015 Gold Hitch awards are just around the corner. The winners will be announced on April 8th, 2015 in conjunction with the 2015 Denver Auto Show. The Gold Hitch award answers a simple question “What is the best towing pickup truck in the land?”

We use the data from the Ike Gauntlet extreme towing test, but this is not the only criteria for picking the winner. Each truck will also be judged by a panel of experienced truck testers to evaluate the overall comfort, handling, and confidence when towing.

Who doesn’t like a bright orange trailer that can carry over 16,000 pounds of payload? This is precisely what we have here.

This Load Max trailer weighs in at around 8,000 lbs empty. It’s got two 12,000 pound axles, spring-assisted ramps, tool boxes, chain storage, two-speed jack, oil-bath hubs, self-adjusting brakes, and much more.

We are basically replacing the two-trailer “train” setup that we have previously used for the big dually trucks, with a single heavy-duty trailer.

The second trailer is this flat-bed bumper pull by Load Trail. It’s not orange, but it’s still very impressive as it can carry 10,000 pounds of payload.

This is a tilt-deck trailer has a low-height design to allow most cars to be easily loaded. It has two 7,000 pound axles, wider load floor, and a gravity assisted tilt mechanism. This trailer will be perfect for both 2500 HD and 1500 light duty Ike Gauntlet runs.
