What to do with a busted RV? [Photo of the Day]

self made rv trailer recreation

Did your RV bus have a fatal engine failure? No worries, you can still turn it into a useful trailer! This resourceful RV owner lightened up the front end of the bus by removing the front axle assembly and installed hitch coupler. Then, just hitch it up to the Ford Expedition and off you go, right?

Well, we hope that the owner considered all safety aspects first. This newly created trailer needs to have fully functioning brakes, and not exceed the maximum towing and payload capacities of the towing vehicle. The large profile and length of the bus require a solid tow vehicle platform. The tow vehicle should have a long wheelbase and even dual rear wheels for added stability. You don’t want for the tail to wag the dog. Also, the coupler does not appear to be long enough to allow for safe turning without jack-knifing.

Every new project needs enhancements, and we hope this one can be improved for safe travels.
