The 2016 Ford F-650 and F-750 will offer three diesel power ratings, including best-in-class standard horsepower and torque. The trucks will have a 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 turbo diesel paired to a commercial-grade six-speed Ford TorqShift HD automatic transmission optimized for medium-duty vocations with a power rating choice up to consumers with no vocational restrictions.
The three power choices will include 270 horsepower with 675 lb-ft of torque, 300 horsepower with 700 lb-ft of torque, and 330 horsepower with 725 lb-ft of torque. The 270 horsepower option provides best-in-class standard horsepower and torque.
The 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 turbo diesel and and commercial-grade six-speed TorqShift HD automatic transmission have been specifically designed for medium-duty use. It has a compacted graphite iron engine block for better durability and reduced noise and vibration, and a shorter airflow from the exhaust system to the turbocharger sitting between the engine’s cylinder banks to improve responsiveness. It all comes with a five-year/250,000-mile limited powertrain warranty.
Ford will also offer a 6.8-liter V10 gasoline-powered engine with 330 horsepower and 440 lb-ft of torque for both the F-650 and F-750 models with a TorqShift HD six-speed automatic transmission. This engine can be factory-prepped for conversion to compressed natural gas or liquid propane gas instead of gasoline.
The 2016 Ford F-650 and F-750 will be offered in Regular Cab, SuperCab and Crew Cab styles and straight frame, dock height or a new dedicated tractor model for heavy towing applications. Expect to see these trucks available in Spring 2015.
