Seeing the 2014 Ram ProMaster van parked in a regular parking spot next to common passenger cars gives you a perspective of its size. For as big and cavernous as it is, this worker van does in fact fit into a standard parking spot by width and length. The model you see here is the 1500 series, 136 in wheel-base high roof.
The ProMaster is jumping into the ever more competitive full-size commercial van segment. Its first competitor is the Nissan NV, on its way to traditional sales leaders: Chevrolet Express, GMC Savana, and Ford E-series.
A first impression of the ProMaster would not be complete without talking about the unique driving position. The seat are mounted high for a commanding bus-driver like position. It takes a while to get used to, but visibility to the front and sides is excellent. Of course, rear-ward visibility is challenged like in any van this size, but it’s helped by a roof mounted rear camera.
Stay tuned – full video and written reviews of the ProMaster are coming soon.
