TFLtruck’s Top 5 Movie or TV Trucks #5 – The Road Warrior (Mad Max 2) Truck

RoadWarrior_truckWelcome to TFLtruck’s Top 5 Movie or TV Trucks – number five!

Come on, all of you have a favorite badass truck from a movie or a television show. No, B.J. and the Bear’s truck didn’t make this list. TFLtruck’s Top 5 Movie or TV Trucks will count down to one, crowning its winner with accolades and high praise… well, not really.

This is a list based on our small team’s opinions alone. We looked at film and television to find a spectacular or highly notable truck. It may not be the focal point of the program/film, but these trucks stand out and imbedded their coolness upon us.

George Miller’s Road Warrior/Mad Max II had an orgy of awesomely mutated vehicles. While there were some slick truck mutations, the Mack truck used to haul the “precious juice” stands out. I believe this truck was a Mack R600 Coolpower, but I am unsure of the year. Miller did use a different truck on a few close-up shots, but it’s hard to tell what that truck is.

Still, when you see it enter the fray fully mutated, it’s awesome. Between Lord Humongous loosing his mind and performing a kamikaze attack on it, and Wez (the mad dog with the orange Mohawk) trying to get his hands Max, it’s awesomeness overload for the viewer.

YOU! You can run, but you can’t hide!”

Good stuff. A new Mad Max movie (Mad Max: Fury Road) is slated to hit theaters May 15, 2015. Judging by the photos and preview, it looks like George Miller is buckling up for another orgy of mutated vehicles. Can’t wait!

Trivia (via IMBd): Most of the final action sequences (including Pappagallo’s death by trident machete, Wez’s final attempt to kill the Feral Kid, then the collision between Max’s truck and Humungus’ hot rod) were filmed on 24 July 1981. The collision caused more damage to the truck than expected, so the truck’s turnover (scheduled for the same day) had to be postponed. The truck was repaired, then crashed the following day.
