Could a new Ram SUV be coming on sale soon? We recently reported on the new $13 Billion investment made by Stellantis into the U.S. new vehicle development and manufacturing. Our last story focused on the midsize pickup truck production. Now, it’s time to address the rumors that are swirling around the full-size SUVs. Let’s dig in.
Ram’s upcoming midsize pickup truck will be made in Toledo, Ohio – where the Jeep Wrangler and the Jeep Gladiator are currently being built. This may mean that the next Ram “Dakota” pickup truck will have a lot in common with the Jeep Gladiator. The Stellantis executive team also said that they are investing heavily into the Warren Michigan facility to build a new SUV. This started some rumors about a Ram SUV, something that is based on the Ram 1500 and the Jeep Grand Wagoneer.
However, it may simply mean that Stellantis plans to build the new Jeep Grand Wagoneer REEV (Range Exteneded Electric Vehicle) at the Warren facility. Still, Stellantis could spread the cost out and get more market share by adding a full-size Ram SUV in addition to the Jeep Grand Wagoneer lineup. Do you think it’s a good idea? The Grand Wagoneer offers up to 10,000 lbs of towing capacity and very luxurious trims. The Ram SUV lineup could focus on lower price ranges, but offer the same utility and towing capacity as its Jeep cousins.
What would you call a new Ram 1500 SUV? There used to be a Dodge Ram Charger full-size SUV. The RamCharger name is currently available, since the Ram RamCharger is now called the Ram REV. Perhaps, the RamCharger name is now too confusing. If there was a Ram SUV, what would you call it?
While we are talking about Ram SUVs, what about a Ram HD SUV? No other manufacturer offers a heavy-duty SUV at this time. The Ford Excursion and the Chevy HD Suburban went extinct many years ago. A Ram HD SUV with turbo-diesel Cummins power could spark some excitement.
