The GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 shows off some moves before its launch.
While its Chevrolet Silverado EV sibling continues to roll out, GMC’s next electric truck will begin making its way out to customers this summer. Before that, though, GMC announced an updated range estimate for the Sierra EV Denali Edition 1, the first variant actually available to public buyers at a starting price of $99,495.
Rather than driving just 400 miles on a charge, the 2024 GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 now has an updated range estimate of 440 miles. Like the Silverado EV RST, that represents a 10% improvement over the automaker’s initial figures.
GMC’s announcement Tuesday also touted the electric Sierra’s capability, including its 800-volt Ultium architecture and, like the Hummer EV, its “Crab Walk” capability. You can see that in action in the teaser video below. The top-end Sierra EV puts out 754 horsepower and 785 lb-ft of torque in Max Power mode, while the electrical setup allows drivers to recharge 100 miles in about 10 minutes on a 350-kW-capable DC fast charger. The truck also gets a MultiPro midgate, allowing a total load floor length up to 11 feet, as well as adaptive air ride suspension and available Super Cruise.
In addition to the extra range, the 2024 GMC Sierra EV Denali Edition 1 also gets revised towing and payload capacity estimates. Now, GMC says the truck can tow up to a maximum of 10,000 pounds, while payload capacity goes up to 1,450 pounds (up 500 pounds and 150 pounds, respectively).
