We are saying goodbye to our 2022 Toyota Tundra after nearly five months and 7,300 miles. The Tundra has been a good truck, and we have a full and comprehensive long-term Tundra review on our TFLtruck Youtube channel. We have our sights on an all-new truck! It’s the worst kept secret. It’s the all-new 2022 Chevy Silverado ZR2 off-road truck. We ordered it as soon as the order books opened, and it turns out to be one of the least expensive new Silverado ZR2 trucks out there.

Given the current crazy used and new vehicle market, we got a very generous trade-in offer from the Stephen Wade dealership in St. George, Utah. They offered us MSRP for our Tundra TRD Off-Road truck trade-in ($57,105). Johnson Auto Plaza in Brighton, Colorado helped us get the Silverado ZR2 and sold it at MSRP to us ($67,215 – including shipping). I also want to thank Megan Soule and the Chevrolet PR team for helping us get one of the first Silverado ZR2 trucks in the country.

Our Silverado ZR2 is wearing Sand Dune color paint. It has a standard 6.2L gas V8 (420 hp / 460 lb-ft of torque) and a 10-speed automatic transmission. It’s rolling on 33-inch Goodyear Wrangler Territory MT off-road tires on 18-inch wheels. The specially-tuned suspension features Multimatic DSSV spool-valve shocks and up to 11.2 inches of ground clearance. The rear differential ratio is 3.23 and it’s equipped with a 24-gallon fuel tank. The newest ZR2’s fuel economy is estimated at 14 MPG city, 17 MPG highway, and 15 MPG combined.

Please stay tuned as we already put around 800 miles on the truck by driving it to Moab, Utah, and back. We have some encouraging real-world fuel economy numbers to share soon.

We cannot wait to share more about this truck with you soon!
