Spied! This Ford Super Duty on 37s Looks Like It Could One-Up Ram’s Diesel Power Wagon

Ford is testing what looks like a 37-inch tire package for the Super Duty Tremor…or maybe something more?

The latest-generation Super Duty lineup has been on sale for a few years now, but that doesn’t mean Ford would miss the opportunity to cook up something fresh. It looks like that’s what we have here, as our pro spy photographer caught this particular F-350 in the wild. What could it be, exactly?

Well, Andre and Tommy go into further detail on their thoughts (to be published on TFLtruck’s YouTube channel soon). Here, we’re focusing on three elements of this suspiciously un-clad Super Duty: the exhaust system, the integrated winch and the wheel/tire package.

We see powertrain mules fairly often, and they sometimes have equipment we won’t necessarily see in production. However, going off the recent revelation that the Ford F-150 EcoBoost is getting a gasoline particulate filter, there could be some emissions work at play here. Ford could be working up some more updates to the 6.7-liter Power Stroke turbo-diesel, or we could be looking at a different kind of setup for the 6.8/7.3-liter gas V8 engines. Or, in typical spy truck fashion, it could be something else entirely. This time, we just have photos to go on, which makes it a bit more difficult to suss out powertrain peculiarities.

As for the integrated winch, it’s true that’s already an option on the Super Duty. To that end, you can spec a 12,000-pound Warn winch for $4,375 onto most Super Duty trims as a dealer-installed feature (and that last part is an important distinction). It’s not so much that this truck has a winch, but the timing in which we’re seeing this configuration of 37-inch tires plus an integrated winch.

Could this have something to do with Ram’s new diesel Power Wagon that, coincidentally, you still can’t build out with a winch option? It seems…interesting, given recent events, and we’ve seen similar back-and-forth between the brands many times before. First came the Ford F-150 Raptor, then the Ram 1500 TRX, then the supercharged V8 Raptor R…then a new TRX that’s more powerful than the Raptor R. You get the picture.

That leads back into the main question: What are we looking at here? At the moment, we have a couple theories. This could be an impending Super Duty Raptor (though it’s still missing some beefier Raptor-esque haunches and several other visual cues), or we could have a special Tremor 37 package for F-250/F-350 models. The latter option seems a little more likely given this truck’s appearance and a similar package setup for the F-150.

How do we know the truck’s sitting on 37s? The spy shots give away the type of tire Ford’s engineers are running here — a set of Nitto Ridge Grappler HTs in 37×11.5-R18 size.

As ever, we’ll have to wait and see exactly what comes of the prototype mule we’re seeing here. If anything, we’ll likely see some trim and package updates for the 2027 Model Year Super Duty lineup pretty soon. For example, we’ve already seen the teaser of the upcoming Carhartt Edition, so Ford could be cooking up even more good stuff for the current-generation truck.
