There is a new HD pickup truck in town. It’s the new Ford Super Duty FXL off-road trucks by American Expedition Vehicles (AEV). Here are all of the images and everything we know so far about this latest AEV truck lineup. Let’s dig in!
AEV has been building high-quality off-road packages for Jeeps starting in 1997. The company expanded to Ram HD pickup trucks in 2013. AEV started working with GM (Chevrolet and GMC) with the introduction of the 2019 Chevy Colorado ZR2 Bison edition. Many asked, why doesn’t AEV work with Ford trucks and SUVs. Now, they do.

Starting this year, you will be able to buy a new Ford Super Duty F-250 or F-350 single rear wheel truck with the FXL conversion by AEV. I always thought that “XL” stands for “Xtra Large”, but in this case it represents the Roman numeral XL that equates to 40. The Super Duty FXL rides on BFGoodrich 40-inch tires that have load capacities of up to 4,000 lbs per tire.
The Super Duty FXL conversion includes approximately a 4-inch suspension lift with Bilstein shocks. Just like with the Ram HD Prospector XL trucks, the idea is to use a minimal suspension lift that can accommodate 40-inch all-terrain tires without rubbing. This methodology helps this big and tall truck keep its center of gravity as low as possible.

Next up are the AEV front and rear bumpers and fender flares to cover these 13.5-inch wide tires. The front AEV bumper incorporated a winch and all factory parking sensors and radar. The FXL retains its adaptive cruise control function and the rest of Ford’s driver assistance technologies.
AEV is also planning to offer this package on Ford F-450 and F-550 trucks. This comes a bit later in Q3 or Q4 of this year.
FXL truck pricing is not yet available, but expect pricing to be about the same as an equivalent Ram HD Prospector XL (which is around $120,000). These trucks will be built in the USA and delivered via AEV authorized dealers and shops around the country.
Please stay tuned as the TFLtruck team will be at the 2026 Detroit Auto Show next week. We will bring you up close and personal video of this truck and many others as well.
