Toyota files for a “TRD Hammer” trademark. Sources say this is a sign that the company is serious about bringing a real Ford F-150 Raptor fighter to the market. It could be called the Toyota Tundra TRD Hammer, and it may be coming sooner rather than later. Here’s everything we know so far. Let’s dig in.

This new development is inline with what we reported on last month. At that time, Toyota was reported to send out a Tundra owner survey about a possible new Tundra model. Among all the names they listed was “TRD Hammer”. At the time, I voted for “TRD Baja”, but apparently it wasn’t in the cards.

TRD Hammer could be the top of the line off-road performance model that many have asked for. There is no official word yet from Toyota. Some sources say that this off-roader would ride on 37-inch all-terrain tires. It would have to in order to compete against the Ford F-150 Raptor 37, which rides on 37s.

We expect this TRD Hammer to be powered by Toyota i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain with at least 437 horsepower. It should have a long-travel suspension and it may be priced in the $75,000-$95,000 range. This would put it squarely in competition versus the F-150 Raptor and the new Ram 1500 RHO. We still don’t know if General Motors will compete directly with these trucks. We are still waiting for official specs about the upcoming 2027 Chevy Silverado 1500 and 2027 GMC Sierra 1500.

Here are our thoughts from about a month ago. Do you agree? Would you consider this potential Tundra TRD Hammer?
