The January 2025 U.S. pickup truck sales data for Ford and Toyota trucks is looking very good. It’s not all good news and we don’t have sales data for General Motors or Ram, but we can take a close look at Ford and Toyota pickup truck sales and see how it’s going. Let’s dig in!

It’s difficult to say precisely why the Ford F-Series sales are doing so good, but it may have something to do with declining Ram truck sales that we saw in Q3 and Q4 of 2024. Ford may be gaining some market share due to other manufacturers struggling. GM truck sales should still be generally good, although we do not have exact number at this point.

The Toyota Tacoma is returning to norm as the best-selling midsize pickup truck in the country. The Tacoma sales were down last year when the new generation of the truck was coming online. It seems that now the new Tacoma sales are in full swing, and dealerships have plenty of inventory.

The Toyota Tundra is also doing pretty good. The same cannot be said for the Ford Maverick and the Ford F-150 Lightning. It appears that the newly refreshed 2025 Ford Maverick trucks have not arrived at most dealers in big numbers yet. We expect Maverick sales to recover soon.

It’s yet unclear if any new U.S.-imposed tariffs have any affect on truck sales at this point. We will have to monitor this space closely.
