Super Bowl ads aren’t cheap, with this year’s slots running around $8 million. Fortunately, Ram is bringing its commercial A game for this one.
This Sunday, millions of folks will tune in to watch the Kansas City Chiefs take on the Philadelphia Eagles in New Orleans. Even if you aren’t a huge football fantatic, though, the commercial spots throughout the game can be fun to check out — and I think this Ram commercial for its revamped 2025 truck lineup might just take the crown for this year’s best.
Even if Ram didn’t have a great year in terms of actual truck sales (Stellantis generally had a dismal showing in 2024, with Ram trucks down 16% overall), they still have a knack for marketing. That’s especially true with brand CEO Tim Kuniskis back at the helm, who takes no prisoners when it comes to dreaming up over-the-top ways of conveying the message that Ram’s trucks are the best and most badass trucks for any job.
Whatever your opinion is on whether that’s actually true — a hearty hello to the Ford and GM fans out there — you’ll still want to check out Ram’s Super Bowl ad this year. The “Drive Your Own Story” ad is a…reimagining? Yeah, sure, that’s go with that…take on Goldilocks and the Three Bears. Or three trucks, as it were: the 2025 Ram 2500 Rebel, the 1500 Ramcharger and the high-performance 1500 RHO. The ad brings in Glen Powell of Top Gun: Maverick fame as he tells his real-life niece and nephew his story with a “rugged, woodsy dude”.
Oh, and there’s some dragon slaying, volcano jumping, and even tree carving too. And Ram is keen to point out it’s not a real tree, as if most folks watching its ad care about that.
Yes, it is still an ad and it’s meant to show off Ram’s trucks as big, brash and brawny. You don’t have to actually buy into that hype — if you’re interested to find out more about the trucks, you can watch TFLtruck to learn about these 2025 models as we’re able to test them (and the HD trucks are coming up soon). It’s still a lot of fun though, and one of the best auto-themed commercials I’ve seen in a while. Plus it does have one of the most badass rock songs ever in the background with Van Halen’s Panama.
