Could this Toyota FJ Bruiser concept truck really impossible to get stuck?

The Toyota FJ Bruiser featured in this video made its debut at the 2023 SEMA show, and we were there in person. In many ways, this creation, which started as a FJ45 pickup truck, became Toyota’s version of an Ultra4 truck. That’s right, this is a Toyota build, and it sits amongst Toyota Land Cruisers at Toyota’s booth.

The suspension, chassis, beefy engine, and ginormous tires fit right into the Ultra4 scheme. The 725-horsepower V8 engine was sourced from a Toyota NASCAR Cup car. It has the cursory onslaught of modern Fox suspension hardware. In addition, those tires sitting on the ends of those heavy-duty axles are immense. They are 42-inch BFGoodrich Krawler T/A KX tires mounted on Method bead-lock wheels.

There’s a full tube chassis, bolted to a remarkably beefy frame. Oddly, that’s not the weirdest, or perhaps, most exciting news about the Toyota FJ Bruiser. Nope, it is actually about something that’s difficult to see; something underneath.

There are large tank treads powered by an electric motor underneath!

Imagine: you’re bounding around on an insanely difficult rock course. Even experts are getting high-centered and need to be winched off a boulder. Now, it’s your turn and you slam the belly onto a massive boulder, all four tires spin with no grip.

No problem! Just activate the belly-mounted treads, and wham! You’re scooting off the rock. This is such a cool, and most likely rarely used solution. I knew a boulder basher with a tubed and caged Wrangler that hid a hydraulic ram underneath. It kind of worked, but it didn’t move much, and the results could be unpredictable.

The idea of a massive conveyor belt underneath you, pulling or pushing out of trouble, well it seems like folly to some. Still, I think it’s cool, and it might save you from having to beg someone for assistance.
