We have more details about the upcoming 2025 Ram TRX. This is unofficial information.
We are referring to the prototype you see here as a 2025 model-year Ram TRX as an educated guess. Ram announced the end of production of the V8-powered Ram TRX after the 2024 model year. However, Ram stated that the “TRX story is not over”. We think this prototype is a continuation of the TRX story as a 2025 model that will be on sale next year.
KGP photography provides several images and a video clip with an exhaust note sound. The test driver does a hard acceleration in this prototype truck, and it has a unique sound. Please follow the link below to our YouTube video with the exhaust sound.
We think this prototype exhaust sounds similar to what a Ford F-150 Raptor V6 Ecoboost sounds like. This may mean that this truck is using the new 3.0-liter I6 twin-turbo Hurricane engine. Stellantis has a new “HurriCrate” engine program where they sell the new straight-six crate engines. The most potent version of this crate engine is rated at 550 horsepower and 531 lb-ft of torque. While these are very impressive numbers from a small-displacement engine – can it live up to the speed offered by the current 6.2L supercharged V8 Hellcat engine with its 702 horsepower?
The 3.0L TT I6 engine may weigh less than the Hellcat V8, so this is a benefit. However, the exhaust sound and the relative power drop are up for debate.
Naturally, we need to wait for the official announcement from Ram about this. Also, we need to drive it and put it to the test in the real world before making the final decision.
