Today is January 1st, 2023 and the latest California (CARB) law goes into effect. Here are all of the details and how this may affect you.
California Air Resources Board (CARB) published its latest regulatory document in February 2020 that affects heavy diesel trucks and busses. The regulation states that commercial vehicles with a Gross Vehicles Weight Rating (GVWR) of 14,001 lbs and above must be powered by an engine with a model year of EMY 2010 or newer (see below).
Just like with any law, there are some exceptions, options, and exemptions. See below.
This regulation has been in place for many years, and it is now in its most recent phase. This may have the hardest impact on smaller commercial truck and/or bus fleets in the state of California. This may also have wider implications as well because some other states (such as Colorado) follow similar emissions regulations that CARB institutes.
We will do more investigation into Colorado and other states’ regulations and update this site with the latest information.
