There is no doubt that 2022 has been a tough year for truck manufacturers. Here are all the results for U.S. pickup truck sales in 2022. General Motors’ full-size pickup trucks are still on top when you combine the Chevrolet and GMC truck sales together. Ford F-Series is still the best-selling truck nameplate in the country, but the 2022 Ford trucks number is down -9.9% when compared to 2021. Chevy Silverado remains the second best-selling truck brand, as Ram trucks slide down into third place.
GMC Sierra had a relatively strong year, although it is still in fourth place. Sierra sales did not decrease that much from 2021 numbers due to the very strong demand and delivery of Sierra HD trucks. The Toyota Tundra had a very successful year as the sales of the new generation of the truck increased 15% over the previous year when the previous generation Tundra wound down. The Nissan Titan continues to struggle as the company sees the sales of its full-size truck nearly cut in half.
Specific Rivian R1T sales numbers will not be reported officially until the company’s next earnings call. We will have to wait for this.
