Scout Motors Launches Its Website with This Teaser Image – What Would You Like a Future Scout Truck & SUV to Be?

A new company is born.

2025 2026 scout vw truck suv teaser brand

Volkswagen’s – Scout Motors – website and brand launch this week with a dark silhouette teaser image you see above. We superimposed the latest “Scout” logo over the teaser image that Scout Motors provides.

Volkswagen spoke about entering the U.S. market with an electrified pickup truck back in April 2022. This upcoming pickup truck would be several years away. My take was that it should be a new VW mini-truck back in April. Volkswagen surprised a lot of people, including me, by announcing the revival of the Scout brand. This is the way Volkswagen is planning to bring an electrified pickup truck and a rugged off-road SUV to the United States. Many details are still unknown, but the new Scouts will most likely be built in the United States.

The new teaser image shows the upcoming Scout SUV design. The vehicle has a lot of ground clearance, a prominent front skid plate, and large tires. Indeed, this appears to be an off-road-focused vehicle that could compete against the vehicles like the Rivian R1S, Land Rover Discovery, Ford Bronco, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Toyota 4Runner, and others. We do not know what starting price Scout is targeting, so it’s difficult to nail down the competitive set.

If you were building a whole-new off-road pickup truck with an electric powertrain, how would you configure it? Let us know in the comments section below.

As far as I am concerned, here is what I would like to see.

  • An affordable starting price.
  • Retro styling that is rugged and simple.
  • Plenty of utility inside and out.
  • one electric motor in the front and one in the rear to achieve AWD/4×4. It does NOT need 830 horsepower or 1,000 horsepower. It needs a normal amount of horsepower and torque for a truck this size. How about 300-450 horsepower in total?
  • an option to add a “locking differential” in the front and the rear for maximum traction.
  • have plentiful ground clearance and approach/departure/breakover angles. It does NOT need a height-adjustable air suspension.
  • export power of around 7.2kW to power tools, campsites, other vehicles, or home appliances.
  • onboard air compressor.
  • a unique feature that no other vehicle has (clever storage compartment or pass-through, a folding bed side, removable seats, or …? )
