(Video) I Go Hands-On with the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD: Let’s Kick the Tires & Answer Some Questions!

We got our paws on a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD, which was on display at the 2022 Texas State Fair – and asked a ton of questions!

To the untrained eye, it may be difficult to see the changes to the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD at just a glance. Trust us, there are plenty of changes to talk about. For one thing, the font end headlight design has been completely revised. Not only have the driving lights been repositioned, but the driving lights themselves have also been through some alteration.

Given the new shape of the driving lights, which extend well into the grill of the Silverado HD, the grill had to be redesigned as well. In my opinion, it looks a bit less grill-centric. That is to say, there is less “in-your-face” grill to look at. Even the functional air intake has a slightly different design. As a matter of fact, we filmed this shortly after covering the Ram HD Rebel, which was a new variant of the successful Rebel nameplate. Oddly, that one’s hood-mounted air scoop wasn’t functional.

The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado HD is more than just a pretty face:

There are also a ton of mechanical updates like the revised 6.6-liter diesel. It now puts out 470 horsepower, and 975 lb-ft of torque. That’s 25 more horses and 65 lb-ft of additional torque over the old model. On top of that, all HDs (including the gas 6.6-Liter V8), get a 10-speed Allison-branded automatic transmission for 2024.

There’s more to this. In a bid to update their interior to be more competitive, Chevrolet essentially copied the interior from the newest Silverado 1500 to build this one. There are differences, but many of the components are shared. A byproduct of sharing tech is that the 2014 Silverado HD gets a ton of tech across the board.

There’s a lot to explain about this video. So, rather than read about it – check out the video!
