The next-generation 2023+ VW Amarok midsize pickup is getting very close to reality. While we do not know for sure if it will be sold in the United States, it is still very important because it shares a lot with the upcoming 2023+ Ford Ranger. The current U.S. Ford Ranger sales are seriously affected by component shortages and the demand for the Ford Bronco. Ford already unveiled the next-generation Ranger for other world markets, but what about the U.S.? Is the midsize segment again losing favor with American shoppers?

Take a look at the latest May 2022 U.S. truck sales data, and you will see that the Toyota Tacoma and the Ford Ranger sales are crashing down. Granted, this may be in large part due to shortages, but it’s worrisome nonetheless.

I am guessing that we will continue to see the Ford Ranger use a 2.3L turbocharged I4 engine (perhaps with some tweaks and power improvements). If the Ranger Raptor comes to the United States, then it is likely to use Ford’s 2.7L twin-turbo gas V6 that the Bronco is currently using. Although, there is an ongoing federal investigation into the Bronco’s 2.7L V6 engine failures.

Here is everything else we know so far about the next-generation Ford Ranger that is coming out for overseas markets.
