Could this be an all-new 2023 Toyota Tacoma prototype towing a trailer? These images come to us courtesy of Norman Haskins who spotted this camouflaged pickup truck towing near Sarasota, Florida. While the images are not in perfect focus, the overall shape and the wheels suggest it may be the upcoming next-generation Tacoma.

All of the information we have says that the next Tacoma will use the TNGA-F platform that also underpins the 2022 Toyota Tundra, 2022 Lexus LX, and the 2023 Toyota Sequoia. We expect the all-new Tacoma to be powered by a four-cylinder turbocharged engine that will compete directly against the new 2023 Ford Ranger and 2023 Chevy Colorado.

How heavy is it towing? It’s difficult to say. The trailer we see here may weigh somewhere between 5,000-6,000 lbs with the concrete block on top of it. The next Tacoma should be rated somewhere near 7,500 lbs of maximum towing to be competitive. We hope to see a debut of the next-generation 2023 Tacoma by the end of this year.

None of these specifications have been confirmed by Toyota.
