TFL Talkin’ Trucks podcast Episode 225 is all about the new Toyota Tacoma hybrid and the differences between the all-new Tacoma TRD Pro and the Tacoma Trailhunter. Roman and I speak with Sheldon Brown, the chief engineer of the Toyota Tacoma, to learn everything about these new trucks and answer some tough questions.

Sheldon brought a new Tacoma hybrid rolling chassis to show the new high-voltage electric components. We also get a close look at the disconnecting front stabilizer bar, the FOX QS3 shocks, and the OME Old Man Emu shocks. It’s very interesting to see “under the skin” of these new trucks and look inside the mechanical components.

I made my decision. If given the money (around $65,000), I would get the Tacoma Trailhunter. The Trailhunter is designed to have a higher payload capacity, and it has heavier skid plates and rock sliders. It’s my type of truck. The Hybrid technology provides the ability for a built-in 2,000 Watt inverter and a built-in air compressor as well. Which one would you buy?
